Virtues of Goa’s new International Airport- MOPA AIRPORT

  • Goa has procured its first-ever greenfield International Airport which spreads across 68000 sq m and has capacity to handle 12000 passengers per day (built by GMR Group)
  • Its first phase was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi
  • The new terminal is bigger, livelier and more advanced
  • It will cater to 44 lakh passengers per year in the first phase with an ultimate capacity to handle 3.3 crore passengers per year
  • The Airport consists of 18 check-in counters, 12 emigration and 8 immigration counters.
  • Infrastructure constraints of old airport generated the the need for new!
  • Airport features: Self-check-in kiosks, 800 passengers capacity in boarding area and 70 plus outlets for shopping
  • It is named after the Late Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parikar.
  • The MOPA Airport has 25000 metric tones of temperature-controlled cargo handling capacity.
  • IndiGo and Go First are the first two airlines that have announced the flights to the new airport.
