Indigo Cadet Pilot Program – Reviews, Selection Procedure & Criteria and other information

Indigo Cadet Pilot Program – If you are planning to start your career in aviation as a pilot considering Indigo Cadet Pilot Program is the best decision you can take. Far away from consultancies and agents this is the most professional way of starting your flying training from ground to air.

Although aviation industry is booming up but not enough jobs are available in market to absorb all Commercial Pilot Licence holders and competition is increasing day by day. Rather than struggling for job after completion of pilot training it is definitely better to get one first and then start training.

  2. Do we need to sign any long term contract with Indigo Airline after enrolling for their cadet pilot program?

    1. Hi Ajay,

You need to sign 5 years of contract in Indigo Cadet Pilot Program and this time starts from the date of joining.

      Aviation Thrust

  3. When does this pilot training program start ?How many batches are there and how will we get to know about the form filling and the entrance tests dates?

    1. Hi,

It wont be possible to give exact information about this because it depends on bank’s desecration. As per our market research you can get loan up to 100% provided that you are mortgaging some property.

            But there two issues:-
            1) The Ppt. on Perpetual, Speed & Accuracy is corrupted and isn’t opening .
            2) Can u please share some material on:-
            i) Abstract Reasoning:- Sequence, Comparison and Grid completion.
ii) Spatial Relationship Reasoning:- Cube, Rotation, Direct, Jigsaw , Map type.

Will Appreciate your prompt response on the above, as CASS for June’16 batch is round the corner.

  7. Hello I am about to finish my 12th in Chennai
I have decided to become a pilot and my parents are backing as well
This page has given me a lot of help for applications
    Thanks a lot!

But I have some queries too

What is the maximum weight for getting a class 1 medical?
Will there *Really* be an assured job at the end of the nfti-indigo course?
Are there any airlines which give an assured job and have cadet programs like indigo

Will be waiting for a quick reply

    Thanks a lot
    Siddarth

    1. Hi Siddarth,

There is no job guarantee as they offer letter of intent only but till date they have hired everyone and Indigo is leading airlines so you can be rest assured in there program.
You can also try your luck with Qatar airways cadet pilot program. Feel free to write us at [email protected] in case you need more help.

      Best Regards,
      Aviation Thrust

      1. I just tried contacting cae but as usual no one picked up the phone.

I actually wanted to know when I could apply because my board exams are in march

and they said they start in match with batches every 3 months. But u also said that they need my score sheet. But that comes in may only. So must I apply after may and join in march 2017??

  8. Hello,
I’m currently studying in 12th standard (Delhi) & would be appearing for Board examination in March 2016 & the result would be out by May,2016.
In which batch would I be eligible to join the cadet program?
And when will the entrance exam be conducted for that batch?
    Thanks.

    1. These days they ask for your result before you appear for interview. Coordinating directly with the institute is better option. In case you want to initiate the process of medical and other things kindly write us at [email protected]

      1. Hello,
Can you please send NFTI contact details and relevant data for CASS.
When is the next exam for NFTI in which I can apply for?
What is the pattern to study for entrance exam of cadet pilot program- goendia

  9. What is the minimum percentage to pass the written exam ?
And how many questions are in the exam all together (English+Physics+Mathematics) ?

    1. Hi, Sorry. We don’t have information on same. We will update same as soon as we get an authentic answer. We have approved your comment so that other viewers can see and answer your question.

  10. Hello I had also previously posted a message concerning a query at your site about the indigo cadet program.thank you very much for the reply.

I have decided to go through the indigo cadet program.

One problem I have is I’m overweight. I’m currently 110kg and not ‘very’ fit, but I can certainly run fast.

Can u please tell me what kind of tests will be there to check if I’m physically fit.. 🙂

And also what will happen if I don’t pass them. When will these tests be conducted and where.

Also can you tell me when I should contact for an exam since my board exams are in march 1st and results are out by may..

    1. Weight is not an issue. If required doctors will do an extra lipid profile test. All the best 🙂

      1. John Roger Daniel

        Hi
When will the next indigo cadet pilot program be conducted and can you please send the study materials for indigo cadet pilot entrance exam and CASS .
I tried calling CAE but no one is answering . How to contact them regarding admissions??

        1. aviation_admin

Kindly try calling them again or escalate the matter. There have been repeated complaints about their wrong conduct.

  11. can i apply for indigo cadet pilot programme if i have less than 55% marks in english but more than 55% marks in maths and physics??

    1. Hi, Sorry they ask for at least 55% in individual. You can give English exam separately via NIOS.

      1. So, if I give English exam again from nios and if I got more than 55% marks in it , will they accept it ?

        1. I am not talking about NIOS , I’m talking about giving English exam again from nios , I’m a commerce student got 75% in 12 , but got 49 marks in English . I gave physics and maths paper from nios got 70 up in it

        2. I have completed my 12 from commerce stream and got 73% overall and got 49 in English exam , I have given my physics and maths paper from nios and got 70+ marks in both. So, if I give English exam again from nios and get more than 55 , will they accept it.

  12. What is NIOS?
How many attempts do I have so I can clear my written test?

Do I need to have any extra knowledge on any subject for ground school?

    What is R/T?

  13. If the left eye vision is 6/9,will there be any problem in joint the cadet program?will they reject the applicant form?
Also, when does the selection process for the intake of June and September (both) month start?
    Thanks a lot. 🙂

    1. Hi,
We will update you shortly on selection process intake for June and September Indigo Cadet Pilot Program.
6/9 eyesight is not an issue.
      Regards,
      Aviation Thrust

    1. Hi,
Please refer the attached question bank. We will also be coming up with online test practice series.
      Regards,
      Aviation Thrust

  14. What is NIOS? How many attempts do I have so I can clear my written test? Do I need to have any extra knowledge on any subject for ground school? What is R/T?

Can I even give my exams while undergoing college?

Hoping for a quick reply please!!

    1. R/T is radio telephony exam. Yes you can get computer number and then appear for exam. You can mail us at [email protected] in case you need assistance in computer number and examinations.

    1. To get DGCA computer number you need to verify your 10th and 12th marksheets and certificates with CBSE or other board as application. A fee of Rs250 approx is charged by CBSE against a receipt. Verification is sent to DGCA directly by CBSE and you will only have the payment receipt.

Next you need to download and fill computer number application form from DGCA website. Send this signed application with marksheets verification receipt to DGCA. You will get pilot computer number intimation by mail.

      1. If i get into any Aviation school ( say indigo cadet program ),they’ll only help me get the computer number, right?
If not,so what is the correct time to apply for it?

        1. Yes they will help you with it. In case you want to expedite your preparation then you can apply soon after getting class 12th result.

    4) after exam and seeing results, if I pass where must I apply for Cass test?

    Please respond at the earliest

  16. 1) how many attempts for written exam?

    2) after written exam results come out and getting selected, how do I go for a Cass?

    3) From where do I get a medical 1 certificate?

    3) What certificates to be taken for written test?

      2. Class 1 medical is required at the time of joining but they do consider class 2 in case you take the responsibility of class 1.
      3. No certificate required at the time of written exam

  19. Thanks for replying to my comment. I have a few other questions regarding the entrance exam

    1) Are the actual exam question very similar to the PDFs posted on your forum?

    2) what is the passing percentage? And how does the cut off work? ( highest to lowest or anyone above the passing mark will qualify for second round)

    3) How many questions are on the exam?

  20. Danishdeep Singh

    Hello,
This is probably the best forum on the internet regarding this topic. Well done, AviationThrust!

Just a few questions regarding the sample papers you have posted here.

How sure are you about the level of difficulty of the questions. Is it gonna be the same as that of these sample papers?
Where have these questions been picked up from?
Have any of these questions appeared in the previous batches’ papers?

    Regards! 🙂

    1. Hi,

These questions have been picked from multiple sources. They are near similar to patter.
They must be having previous batch question paper too.

      Aviation Thrust

      1. Danishdeep Singh

Thanks for the reply, though I didn’t get any previous-year question papers from them, I’d continue practicing these. Can you suggest me something more to prepare from? or would these questions suffice for practice? My exam is fast approaching.

      2. Danishdeep Singh

And also from these questions, there are some topics which are not there in the syllabus provided to us, for example, questions from Permutations-Combinations, Triangles, etc. not in syllabus.. So what do you suggest regarding these?

  21. Thanks for the info sir

Are the same questions asked every year in interview and written test or does it keep changing?

  22. Hey,

I had sent you guys an e-mail with an inquiry about the IndiGo Cadet Program GD/PI round but still waiting for a response from your end. Kindly look into the same at your earliest convenience.

    Thanks!

  23. HI! you have listed 3 sample papers in the article. is it possible to get any more sample papers from anywhere? (Answer key for a few questions is wrong)

Also, do they have enough aircraft for students to complete their flying hours timely. I am preparing for the test on Feb 7 and I happen to read some really bad reviews about this program. Highly confused now. Please help and give an honest opinion. it’s a huge investment.

    1. At the moment the total aircraft strength is 14. That includes two multi engine aircraft. This is sufficient at the moment for the current cadets available.

The good news is that they are in the process of getting more aircraft to match the increasing number of new cadets.

At the end of the day remember that it is a 17 month program during which the training needs to be completed. And they have been able to accomplish that till now.

The on-going market trend is to get a CPL followed by a type rating without a security of a job in hand.
This makes the Indigo cadet program the best deal as you have a LOI before even having a CPL.

So study hard and all the best for the Feb attempt!!

  24. well first of all thanks a lot for helpn us..
i graduated from high school durn 2009… now i feel the portion r completely diff. frm wat i used to study….
i find most of ur sample questions to be identical to CBSE pattern.. is it so?? i dont think its more of a state board pattern…
it wud be of gr8t help if u can let me know wr i can find similar question GUIDES n probably some previous yrs question papers too…

is it just the +2 portions or even 10th r included ?

  25. well thanks a lot for the immense detail being putup here…..
i graduated from high school durin 2009… i find vry few question tat r similar to the state board pattern..
    especially MATH paper…
is it a CBSE pattern MCQ paper ?
r thr any specific guide or study material to read for these type of MCQ’s? does it include evn 10th portion or only +2 ?

    1. Please go through the links shared in article and also our online questionnaire. That will surely help you.

    1. sorry calculators are not allowed for written exam. we will be posting some GD topics very soon and before your exam.

    2. Pranav Amal Raj

      Hello Ajaya
Have you completed the written exam? If yes could you please tell me about the questions which was asked ? It will be very helpful for me of I could get it.

  26. The best forum regarding the cadet program Highly appreciated
I came to know that no 12th certificate is needed to hive the written exam.so,Is it possible to give the written exam in Feb attempt & clear the rest of the stages after March or so?
Actually I’m currently studying in class 12th & want to join the cadet program as soon as I clear my 12th.
So what is the best time to give the written exam according to you?
    Regards 🙂

    1. Hi,
Thanks for appreciation. We doubt if they will entertain the delay. Its great that you are excited to join the program. You can do the medical and other process in mean time to reduce delays.
      Write us at [email protected]

  27. do we get 1 or 2 sheets for working or all has to be done mentally or working has to be shown on the exam paper

  28. Hello Sirs, can you please tell me that can a commerce student like me become a pilot ? If yes how can i get started to it ? will I get the admission for the indigo cadet pilot programme ?

  29. Hi, i am presently studying in class 12 commerce stream with english and maths. i wanted to join the indigo cadet pilot program but it says it needs physics. so how can i appear for th physics exam? plus i will be finishing my 12th by april 1 2016, so when does the indigo pilot course begins?

  30. I have submitted my class 2 medical papers at dgca 20 days ago.How will I get my file number now?

I don’t have any reference number for the papers submitted.

1.Is there any desired study material to prepare for the written exam?
2.What is the basic difference when we go for Indigo Cadet Program, how is it different from the routine course that CAE offers ?

5.Is there any advantage or preference to students who get good percentage in 10+2(eg-90%)
6.I’ve heard there is a lot of job insecurity in aviation,is the indigo cadet program a solution for this?
    7. What is the current scenario of indigo,do you think they will expand or not?
    8. Is CASS the toughest part of the selection?
9.I have passed the class 2 medical, how much is class 2 different from it?
    please reply ASAP
    Thanks! 🙂

    1. Dear Krishna,

      1. You can find the type of questions asked during the entrance test on our website. Click here <http://aviationthrust.in/indigo-cadet-pilot-program-sample-papers/> to visit the link.

      2. With the IndiGo cadet program one is already a part of the IndiGo family. You get a letter of intent before even starting your CPL. The other regular course at NFTI gives you an opportunity to apply for jobs after completion of your CPL.

      3. The duration for the IndiGo cadet program is 17 months and for the regular program it is 19 months.

      4. We will post syllabus of written exam shortly.

      5. One needs to understand and learn a whole new world for flying.
Good grades in Physics and Mathematics will help you grasp the concepts quicker.

      6. The aviation industry is finally opening and selection examinations are being conducted for the CPL and CPL with Type rating level.
The IndiGo cadet program is the best option as it gives you the chance to have a career with an airline even before a CPL.

      7. IndiGo had placed a large order of aircraft which are now being delivered on a regular basis. IndiGo is expanding and they require pilots in large numbers.

      8. It is a three part process. Starting with the written examination followed by the CASS and finally ending with the GDPI.
Each section is equally important to reach the next stage.

      9. It is advisable to get your Class 1 medical done before starting and investing in a CPL program. The IndiGo cadet program requires you to have a class 1 medical before you start your CPL.

      Happy landings always!!

      1. Krishna Bharihoke

One more thing,When I visited NFTI I observed that all the students were 25-30 years of age approximately, while I aspire to join the course just after my 12th boards next month and I will be 18 when I join, Why do people not prefer joining the course just after 12th or is it not what I observed?

        1. Hi Krishna,

You are at best age to join. There are various reasons like family responsibilities, finances etc due to which people delay their joining.
          You will definitely do well.

          Regards,
          Aviation Thrust

      2. Krishna Bharihoke

And my boards are ending in march,so which batch would be the earliest and when will the entrance exam be held for indigo cadet program?

          1. Krishna Bharihoke

July is the time for batch commencement or exam? If batch then when will the exam be for july batch?

  32. Jerrin Sam Mathews

I’m a B.Tech Mechanical engineer and wanted to pursue the Indigo Pilot Program.

    1. I have secured 73% in my graduation and overall 59% in class 12th with 74% in English. I want to know if I’m eligible for this program.

    2. When does this pilot training program start ?

    3. How many batches are there and how will I get to know about the form filling and the entrance tests dates?

    4. Approx. fees and other expenses for the program and is the fees to be paid in lump-sum.

    Thank You

    Jerrin Sam Mathews

    1. Dear Jerrin,

      1. You need to have min 55% individually in physics, maths and English at the 10+2 level to be eligible for the IndiGo cadet program.

      2. There are 4 batches a year for the IndiGo cadet program. March, June, September and December.

      3. Till date there are 12 batches and counting. You need to be in touch with NFTI for the form filling process and test dates.

      4. Approx. fee is Rs. 45 lacs for the CPL course plus Rs. 25 lacs for the Type Rating.

The CPL fee structure is in 4 equal instalments payable during the first year.
The type rating fee is lump- sum.
      Hope this helps.
      Happy landings!!

  33. Hi!

    Thanks & Regards
    Ravish Shaunak

      1. Ravish Shaunak

Hi Admin, Thanks for your reply. First off all I would appreciate your effort regarding the information provided for Indigo Cadet Program. I have to ask one more question. I am an Engineering Graduate with 3 year of work experience in consulting in India as well as in Abroad. I have secured more than 70% in physics and mathematics. But, I have secured only 54.95% in English. Do they accept my application ? Please reply.
        Thanks

        1. aviation_admin

          Hi,

  35. Hi, i’ll be appearing for Indigo cadet program in future, i’ve few queries and would really appreciate it if you can help me with that..
    1. I am 26years of age, would that be a negative point in my selection?
    2. I am a smoker and smoke 7-8 cigarettes a day, so would that create any problem at the time of medical?
3.I am overweight and have high blood pressure, so would that create any problem at the time of medical?
    4. I really need some guidance on the selection procedure, i have read it online, would really appreciate if you can help me with question bank or data for all the three stages..

    Thanks

    1. Hi,

      Following answers should help you:

      1. No
      2. Should not, but you should reduce number 😛
      3. Doctor can suggest best
      4. Mail sent.

      Aviation Thrust

  36. Also can you please suggest me some institute in delhi for coaching for written and cass test..
    Thanks

  37. what is the passing percentage of students who write the exam… i mean how many people at an average pass all 3 stages..
and also if we pass the entrance exams and the 3 stages what is the percentage of students working up for indigo.. as in is it that all students even after attending the stage 1 and stage 2 programs work in indigo .. and id like to know the risks in this.. the real ones .. an honest answer please

    1. aviation_admin

About 150-170 appear for the written.
Half of them pass the written and qualify for the second round i.e. CASS.
Usually 70-80% get through the CASS round. This is followed by GDPI round. 50% are short listed in the GDPI.

So in general 1 in every 3 gets into the program.

This is the best cadet program in the country. Indigo has inducted each and every cadet till date.

The only downside is the investment of about 70 lacs!!

  38. this is really informative please if you could send me some ref books that would be great

  39. Abhishek SIngh

Hey can you share the referance material for CASS exam, it would be great?
and the kind of topics that are discussed in GD?

  40. suppose if i hv money for cpl den cn i get full cost of type rating in loans from banks.??

    1. aviation_admin

Loan for pilot training whether its CPL or Type Rating depends on the amount of collateral you can put. At present banks do not have any specific instructions on loans for pilot training.

  41. Kokil sachdeva

    Hi,
When is the next intake for this program? Also, once we pay for the written exams and supposedly clear the level, do we need to pay before we appear for the second round?
Looking forward to your reply. Thank you.

  42. Subhrajyoti Mukherjee

Hi aviation thrust .. I recently applied for the cadet program. When will the entrance exam be conducted? Also can you please mail the syllabus and material for the entrance test?

    Thank you.

    1. aviation_admin

  43. Hi…I have applied for the program. I got Tis doubt in the syllabus for written. What is te board they fallow for written. I mean should I prepare from CBSE board 10 +2 physics English maths or of any other board . Thankq

  44. I’m doing my b.tech 2nd at the moment and intend to join the cadet flying program.I would like to know that will this program be extended after 2016 for the coming yrs or it ends this year itself as per the initial contract?

    1. Hi,
As per the current info this program will continue in future too. Aviation is expanding and so is Indigo Airlines. They will need pilots in future too.
      All the best.

    1. Hi,
Examination is to select average people with good attitude. They are not looking for scientist (just for humor).
      Aviation Thrust 🙂

  45. hi,

is there any game that you suggest which i can practice in order to get a hand on experience of the CASS exam simulator?
Someone suggested i should buy a joystick and practice on Lock on game.
    Please help

    1. We don’t suggest joystick as it may set wrong habit. Playing Lock on directly via keyword will also help as it will familiarize you with instruments.

  46. I got 55 in maths and 67 in english and i am preparing for my physics from nios…..and if i get 55 in physics too…..does this put any bad impression during interview round and do they need very intelligent students and what do they ask in GD and PI?

    1. No they need average person with good attitude and passion for aviation.
All the best. You will do well.

      Aviation Thrust

  47. Hi Sir,
I’m doing my 3rd year in engineering in Chennai and I hope to do my cpl next year. Do you think I can appear for the March intake selection process but join in June?

    1. That you need to discuss with academy. They can entertain this depending on individual’s requirements.

  48. Hi,

  49. Hi
Can you please share the reference material for CASS exam and the kind of topics that are discussed in GD? Also, where do I train for the PI – what kind of questions asked..

  50. Krishna Bharihoke

Is it better to do engineering or some other UG course before pursuing pilot training?

  51. Krishna Bharihoke

Does the course take exact 18 months or is it possible to complete in lesser time depending on personal capabilities?

    1. aviation_admin

Sorry for the delayed reply. You can complete it in lesser time. It depends on how fast you clear examinations.

  52. hi my name is Sandeep my ambition is to become a aeroplane pilot i want know that how i cost for the indigo cadet program and pilot licence should i need any further education from any aviation college

    1. aviation_admin

Sorry for delayed reply. Indigo cadet pilot program cost approx 80 lac including type rating. You need to be +2 with Physics, Maths and English.

  53. Hey,
    I need your guidance.
I have given my board exams in this year only & I’m planning to give cadet written exam on 18th June.
I want your guidance that if by chance l do not match the eligiblity criteria for the cadet exam i.e 55% marks in Physics,Mathematics & English or I do not clear the written exam & did not get through the cadet program,Should I join Cae,Gondia as a regular cadet ( which doesn’t need any eligibility criteria like the cadet program )??
Or should I join some other aviation school in India & get my CPL on multi engine & then get my TR done?
I know that joining cae,Gondia as a regular cadet would cost me way too much than joining any other aviation school in india & knowing that the results would be same.
But keeping the commercial angle aside, what your experience say? Whether I should join cae,Gondia as a regular cadet or do my CPL course from any other school in India & then go abroad for the TR?
I just want that after completing my CPL & TR,I should get a good job in any airlines.( I know that doing my CPL from anywhere else other than Indigo cadet program would not assure me a job but what is the best option to do so? Which one would increase my chances of getting a job faster? )
What would you recommend to me? Need your sincere guidance & please explain me your view too 🙂
    Thanks a lot 🙂

Please tell me the schedule of the coming exam and the schedule of whole year i.e. on which date a candidate can apply and the date of exam etc ? Is a candidate eligible who has got lasik operation of both eyes and has a clear vision? Is a candidate eligible who has 3-4 number specks OR corrected vision ? Upto which date indigo has tie up with flying club Gondia?

    1. aviation_admin

      1. You need marksheet to apply. (Internet one will work)
      2. Next exam will be in July (contact academy for date and timings)
      3. Please approach DGCA approved Doctor for eyesight info.
      4. No explicit information is available on same.

  56. Adrry Banerjee

Hello,I have decided to join the indigo cadet program in 2017.just have a doubt over the fee structure as of now i.e how should be the payment initiated for this programme, will it be in bulk at once or periodic? And do the concerned banks require a separate reference from the institute for a particular candidate after the interview or they are least bothered about caliber ?

    1. aviation_admin

Banks need no conversation with Flying Schools as they will ask for collateral against the loan.

  57. hie I recently gave my board exam ..I am from pcm stream I am 5’1 and working on my weight.. so can I apply for the same since this field is very fascinating?

But while researching about the same on google,I found that CTC Aviation is also providing the same Indigo cadet program.

  90. Hey aviation thrust
Would you please send me written examination material for indigo cadet pilot exam.
