This post must be studied as a part of Fuel Leak procedure. Pls check applicability of this temporary abnormal behavior in aircraft specific FCOM (Ref – DSC 70 95 Temporary Abnormal Behaviors).
Issue:
One of the triggering conditions for ENG 1(2) FUEL LEAK alert is comparison between fuel flow of both engines.
In abnormal conditions, the fuel flow of a faulty engine may decrease. However, if both thrust levers are in the same position, the flight warning computer may mistakenly identify the engine with the highest fuel flow as the source of a fuel leak. Consequently, the ENG 1(2) FUEL LEAK alert may be triggered for the serviceable engine (typically the one operating normally).
ENG 1(2) FUEL LEAK alert requires the flight crew to shutdown affected engine, as a result they might end up shutting down wrong engine.
Solution:
Before considering engine shutdown, flight crew must check engine and fuel parameters on both engines.
