“CHECK WEIGHT” Message – A320

Issue

On the Airbus A320, the “CHECK WEIGHT” message appears on MCDU when there’s a significant disagreement between the gross weight computed by FMGC and the gross weight computed by FAC.

This could indicate a potential discrepancy in the aircraft’s weight calculations, which is crucial for safe flight operations. The threshold for triggering this message is typically when the difference between the two computed weights exceeds 7 tonnes.

Solution

Step 1

Check FMS ZFW value and FOB value against load and trim sheet. Make corrections if applicable.

Step 2

If the FMS entered values are correct, disregard VLS, F, S, and GREEN DOT. VLS, F, S and GREEN DOT speed is calculated by FAC and must be disregarded. Refer QRH for Operating Speeds.
