“CHECK WEIGHT” MESSAGE ON MCDU – A320

The “CHECK WEIGHT” message on the MCDU of an Airbus A320 indicates a discrepancy between the gross weight (GW) computed by FMGC and FAC. When this message appears, it suggests that the difference between the weights calculated by these two systems exceeds 7 tons. Such a significant variance could potentially impact the aircraft’s performance calculations, especially during critical phases of flight such as takeoff and landing.

SOLUTION –

Check FMS FOB and ZFW value from Load and Trim sheet.

  • If the entered value on INIT B page is wrong, correct the same.
  • If the entered value on INIT B page is correct, disregard VLS, F, S, GREEN DOT speeds on PFD as they are computed by FAC. Use FMS GW and check operating speeds in QRH.
